Client & Goal

A multi-location clinic network needed a mobile-first system for appointments, vitals capture, and clinician messaging, with strict patient privacy and offline resilience for low-connectivity branches.

Challenges

  • Fragmented workflows across WhatsApp, paper forms, and desktop EMR.
  • No offline access; rural clinic loses connectivity daily.
  • Patient privacy risks with uncontrolled media sharing.

Solution

We built a React Native app backed by a NestJS API. Role-based access controlled clinical notes, attachments, and chat. Offline-first data storage with conflict resolution kept visits running during outages.

Key Features

  • Appointment booking with SMS/WhatsApp reminders and reschedule links.
  • Vitals capture flows with Bluetooth device import where available.
  • Secure clinician messaging with media redaction and audit trails.
  • Offline queueing for notes, meds, and labs with auto-sync on reconnection.

Tech Stack

  • React Native (iOS/Android), TypeScript, Redux Toolkit Query.
  • NestJS API, PostgreSQL, Redis for sessions and rate limits.
  • End-to-end encryption for messages; S3 pre-signed uploads for media.
  • Deployed on AWS ECS; Cognito for auth; CloudWatch alarms.

Outcomes

  • No-show rate reduced by 35% after reminders and self-reschedule.
  • Average consult prep time down 22% with pre-visit intake in-app.
  • Audit logging satisfied internal privacy review; zero PII leakage incidents post-launch.
  • Clinician satisfaction (CSAT) improved from 3.2 to 4.5 within two release cycles.
